Jim Steinback retired as a senior executive role at Square D, a division of Groupe Schneider, in 2007. He joined the Square D team in 2005 when it acquired his company, Magnecraft Electric. As President and Owner of Magnecraft, Jim led its phenomenal growth and success, overseeing all aspects of strategic and operational activities, for more than 20 years.
Actively sought out for his deep wisdom and broad expertise, Jim has served on the board of directors for more than 20 companies, including a dozen in the manufacturing space. Respected for his ability to broadly apply his skills and talents, he has also served as a director for a variety of companies outside manufacturing, including Mark Shale Retailers, Turtle Wax, Amalgamated Bank, and Gorman Publishing.
An active leader in his industry and generous contributor to the business community at large, Jim is past director of WPO (World President’s Organization) Chicago and past Mentoring Chairman for the National Association of Relay Manufacturers.
Currently Jim serves as a director for Mediafly Software, provider of mobile enablement software for sales professionals; RDI Group, manufacturer of capital equipment; and Nightengale-Conant, world leader in personal development for more than 50 years.
A longtime advocate for children and families, Jim also currently serves as a director for both the Chicago Chapters of Genesys Works, and OneGoal. He is past Board Chair for the Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School at the University of Chicago and the Hyde Park Day School.
Jim holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin 1967 and an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
He and his wife Joanne split their time between homes in Northfield, Illinois and Telluride, Colorado.
