BOUNCE FAMILY FAQ

Bounce Family FAQ

Why would we want to join Bounce?

Bounce brings kids and families together, both physically and virtually, to have fun, to learn, to reduce frustration, to cope and to thrive. Bounce offers significant improvement in quality of life by offering families the opportunity to forget, even if only briefly, the harsh realities of chronic illness. In addition, Bounce creates a sense of well-being through the predictability of regular interactions, creating anticipation and memories of these happy, joyful experiences.

Are my child's siblings allowed to join us at events?

Yes! The whole family is invited and encouraged to join in all the activities of Bounce, making Bounce the unique, family-encompassing organization it is.

If my child has autism or ADHD, do they qualify for Bounce?

They may qualify for Bounce if they also have a medically diagnosed illness in addition to autism or ADHD.

How long can we be members of Bounce?

Until the day your child turns 18!

What does it cost to join Bounce?

Absolutely nothing!  All Bounce programs and services are offered free of charge to members.

How does Bounce Net® work and what am I allowed to post?

BOUNCE NET® POSTING GUIDELINES & POST MONITORING:

  1. Families are expected to behave on Bounce Net in accordance with the Code of Conduct set forth in the Bounce Membership Application.
  2. Families are not allowed to post fundraisers in support of other organizations or individual causes on Bounce Net.
  3. Bounce Net will be monitored daily by Program Manager.
What can we expect to get as a member of Bounce?

Bounce offers five distinct programs for enrolled families to participate in. These include:

  • Bounce Bash® – family events, outings and adventures specially designed to enable the participation of children with complex medical needs.
  • Bounce It Forward® – allows families attend high demand events using donated tickets.
  • Bounce Back Kits® – family care packages that enhance coping from home.
  • Bounce Academy® – education for parents/caregivers to enhance their ability to cope financially, intellectually, emotionally and psychologically.
  • Bounce Net® – private online community of 24/7 support available to parents/caregivers.
How do I know if my child is eligible to join Bounce?

Your family is eligible for Bounce if your child is under 18 years old and has been diagnosed with a chronic disease and/or permanent injury. Click here for a list of just a few of the chronic illnesses that qualify. If you do not see your child's illness, feel free to email info@bouncechildrensfoundation.org or call 844-6-BOUNCE to discuss your child's eligibility.

Does Bounce consider income in applications for membership?

Income or economic status are not considerations for membership in the Bounce community.

What region does Bounce cover?

Critical to the success of the Bounce Community is member ability to attend events in person and share resources with other families. As a result, geography has a significant impact on family engagement and the value they receive from being part of the community.

Currently we support children/families across the Chicagoland area, defined as Chicago, its Suburbs, NW Indiana, SE Wisconsin and other cities/towns within ~75 miles of downtown.   If you are willing to travel the distance required to actively participate by attending events that are held in both downtown Chicago and its suburbs, please let us know and we will consider your application accordingly.

Does Bounce provide transportation to and from events?

Bounce Families provide their own transportation, however, whenever possible Bounce will provide a parking stipend for venues that charge for parking.
